13.1.9.1. Diagnostics of malfunctions of a starter

If the starter is not turned, then, first of all, check whether there is on the plug of the 50th traction relay tension, necessary for retraction, – not less than 8B. If the specified tension arrives, then it is necessary to check according to the electrical circuitry of the line which belong to an electric chain of a starter. Whether the starter in the presence of the full tension of the rechargeable battery is involved, it is possible to check as follows:

 – do not include any transfer, include ignition;
 – to a zashuntiruyta a wire (cross section is not less than 4 mm2) plugs 30 and 50 on a starter, see also electrical circuitry Electric equipment – a starter, the generator, the accumulator (a DB of 111 HFM/PMS).

If at the same time the starter is normally started, then malfunction consists in the wires going to a starter. In this case check a starter in the removed state.

Check condition: it is necessary to screw down connections, and they should not be oxidized.

The starter does not rotate when actuating the switch of ignition and starter
The rechargeable battery is discharged Charge the rechargeable battery.
The line 50 going to the switch of ignition and a starter is broken off, the starter switch is faulty Eliminate a gap, replace faulty details.
The wire or connection on the case is broken off; the rechargeable battery is discharged Check wires of the rechargeable battery and connection, measure tension of the rechargeable battery, if necessary charge it.
Insufficient passing of current owing to the loosened or oxidized connections Clear poles and plugs of the rechargeable battery.
There is no tension on the plug 50 (the traction relay) Restore the connections protected by safety locks between the rechargeable battery, a starter and the case of the car.
The starter rotates too slowly and does not start the engine
The rechargeable battery is discharged Charge the rechargeable battery.
In the engine there is no winter engine or all-weather oil Fill in all-weather oil.
Insufficient passing of current owing to the weakened or oxidized connections Clear poles and plugs of the rechargeable battery and clear connections on a starter, hardly delay connections.
Coal brushes do not adjoin to a collector, plugs in the contact surfaces are worn-out, broken off, greasy or polluted Check, clear or replace coal brushes, check contact surfaces.
Insufficient interval between coal brushes and collector Replace coal brushes and clear contact surfaces of coal brushes.
The collector is scratched or burned and is polluted Grind a collector or replace an anchor.
On the plug 50 there is no tension (at least 8 V) Check the switch of ignition and starter or the traction relay.
The traction relay is faulty Replace the traction relay.
The starter is started and involved, the shaft of the engine does not rotate or rotates only pushes
Gear transfer is faulty Replace gear transfer.
The gear wheel is polluted Clear a gear wheel.
The gear rim on a flywheel is faulty Finish a gear rim if it is required, replace a flywheel.
Gear transfer does not work
Gear transfer or abrupt carving are polluted or faulty Clear gear transfer, if necessary replace it.
The traction relay is faulty Replace the traction relay.
The returnable spring is weakened or broken off Restore a returnable spring.
The starter continues to work after the ignition key was switched off
The traction relay freezes up, it is not switched-off Immediately switch off ignition, replace the traction relay.
The lock switch of ignition and devices is not switched-off Immediately disconnect wires from plugs of the rechargeable battery, replace the lock switch of ignition and devices
