6.2. Conditioner
The conditioner in interior of the car establishes temperature lower than temperature of air. If the conditioner is switched on, in salon humidity of air also decreases. In the presence of the conditioner the dust filter is also always installed.
The cooling device is integrated into standard system of heating and ventilation, and the interior of the car can also be cooled. The conditioner works by the principle of the refrigerator: the compressor put in action from the engine through maple a belt condenses vaporous, environmentally friendly coolant (R 134a).
At the same time coolant heats up and goes to the condenser. There it is cooled and diluted. The vaporizing valve injects the cooled liquid into the evaporator which is similar on the design to the refrigerator. Coolant evaporates in it. As a result of evaporation process the air which is flowing round outside of a lattice or a pipe loses heat.
Thus air is cooled and humidity as a result of formation of condensation moisture increases.
At the rotating engine and the switched-on fan the cooled air through various entrance openings can come to interior of the car.
Mercedes-Benz of the S-class is available on sale with two options of cooling: conditioner and automatic climate. Differences of these two options consists in management and service.
While at the installed conditioner adjustment of temperature is carried out separately for the left and right part of salon, at automatic climate temperature is regulated at the same time for the right and left part of interior of the car.
Advantage of automatic climate in front of the conditioner is that there is in addition a switching of "AUTO". If it is put in action, then there is completely automatic control of amount of air and its distribution in salon. If "AUTO" is disconnected, then the driver himself can define amount of air and its distribution, as at usual heating and ventilation, but, naturally, also for both parts of interior of the car together.
