13.1.7.4. Charging of the rechargeable battery

The positions marked by a sign + concern only the unattended rechargeable battery which is installed serially. Take these instructions into account. If in addition rechargeable battery demanding more complex maintenance was installed, then take all positions into account.

Before charging check electrolyte level, if necessary add the distilled water.

Never close накоротко the rechargeable battery. At short circuit it heats up and can burst. Do not light the battery with an open flame. Electrolyte (on the basis of sulfuric acid) is the corroding liquid and should not get into eyes, on skin or on clothes, If necessary wash out a large amount of water the place on which electrolyte got.

Disconnect a positive wire and a wire of weight from plugs of the rechargeable battery. At accession and a detachment of wires pay attention to that there was no sparking. Therefore previously disconnect all consumers of current.

Before charging give the chance to be defended to the frozen rechargeable battery. The charged battery freezes approximately at a temperature of -65 °C, semi-loaded – about -30 °C, and discharged – approximately, at –12 °C.

Unscrew traffic jams from the rechargeable battery and put them on openings. It will prevent hit of splashes of electrolyte on a varnish, and at the same time at charging the formed gaseous products will be able to disappear.

Charge the rechargeable battery only in well aired room. At charging of the built-in rechargeable battery leave open a trunk lid.

At normal charging charging current makes 10% of capacity (at rechargeable battery with a capacity of 74 А*ч, therefore, about 7,4 And).

The rechargeable battery can be charged also by means of the fast-loading device.

Prevention

Bystry charging of the rechargeable battery should not become a habit! You should not charge rechargeable batteries new or unused long time in an expedited manner.

Connect a positive pole (+) the rechargeable battery to a positive pole of the charger, and a negative pole (–) of the accumulator to a negative pole of the same device.

During charging temperature of electrolyte should not exceed 55 °C, in case of need interrupt charging or reduce charging current.

Load until brisk gas emission in all cells stops and any more tension and specific weight of electrolyte measured three times at an interval of one hour does not increase.

After charging check electrolyte level, if necessary add the distilled water. + Check electrolyte density. If the measured density in one cell is less than other values (for example, in five cells density makes 1, 26 g/ml, and in one cell – only 1, 18g/ml), then the rechargeable battery is faulty and it should be replaced (to restore).

Leave approximately for 20 minutes the rechargeable battery for full release of gases, then screw up traffic jams.

Prevention

The engine should not work at the switched-off rechargeable battery, – the electric system is damaged.
